A few months ago I've started writing my Romantic Cyberpunk manifesto. It currently reads like a series of fragmented phrases and random thoughts but I'll find the time to bring it all together. When ready, I'll post it here as an article and as a free download on my website.

My art could be felt as a kind of future regret. Looking back and wishing we'd acted differently. It doesn't warn about what's coming. It shows what's already here, just lit up in ways that make you actually stop and look at it instead of looking away like we do on a daily basis.

I remember senior artists making fun of me for hiding my name (Dangiuz) as a neon sign inside my pieces instead of just signing them normally, like in this piece I made in 2020. In hindsight, this kind of signature ended up being one of the best proofs against AI accusations :P

I never meant to make work with a specific message but looking back it definitely adds up: quiet collapse sold as innovation and cultural decay dressed up as progress. To describe my entire body of work with one phrase: "the trajectory toward algorithmic mediation of everything".

The algorithm is not your friend, although it's designed to look like one. It's not meant to improve your experience or make your life better, but only to maximize engagement, which is a completely different goal that sometimes just so happens to align with what makes you happy.

The cat is the only entity in my art with zero relationship to technology, authority or social collapse. It's neither oppressed nor complicit. It doesn't resist the system because it doesn't recognize there is a system. It just observes, explores, exists.

In terms of artistic weltanschauung I like to think my art is a concoction between Friedrich, Goya, Delacroix, Fritz Lang, Ridley Scott and the Wachowskis. There's a common thread linking how these figures understood the relationship between technology, power and human existence.

The main challenge I set for myself, the thing that keeps this interesting after 15+ years, is trying to make something that screams "Dangiuz" but feels innovative at the same time. Sometimes I manage, sometimes I don't, but trying is mandatory. The attempt itself is the point.

On a long enough timespan, someone will ask Grok what's the meaning of one of my pieces and it will just say that it can't respond because it violates the guidelines
