I went from working out 2-hours-a-week to training for 11 hours-a-week in a 15 month timeframe.
Here’s what I’ve learned.

Are you a mercenary or a missionary?

The biggest mistake I made in the past 5 years was becoming a mercenary.
I looked at my job(s) as an ends to a mean.
Stepping stones to get to the next level.

Sometimes exclusion is the best form of inclusion.

I was listening to ‘The Art of Gathering’ by Priya Parker and I was blown away by her work as a facilitator.

My biggest takeaway?

Make sure every single meeting has a bold, specific, purpose.

Sure that might turn some

Remember pulling all nighters on research papers in high school and still nailing your assignments?

I got an A for a friend who paid me $200 with 48 hours notice - so I had 2 days to research some French pirate and write 8 pages.

Nothing makes you feel more alive like not knowing where you're going to sleep at night.

I'd often roll into a town as the sun started to disappear with nothing but my tent and a fist to knock on doors.

Some times I'd ask to sleep on people's lawns.
Other times I'd find a park

One of the craziest superpowers you build while training for an ultra is discipline.

Even when you don’t want to run, you do it, because it’s part of the plan.

Imagine going on a 4 hour long you don’t want to.

Imagine what else you can do when you build that kind of

I shared this story on Quora 5 years ago in response to a question, “What does ‘community’ mean to you?”

I thought it was beautiful and well written and so I wanted to post it on X.

Feelings aren’t always reliable.
Especially when you’re doing hard things.

For 2 months I’ve felt stuck at 30-45 miles.
But after digging into more charts.

I've talked to several achievers about their favorite piece of content and one sticks out.
(It's completely free)

The book everyone talks about is The Almanack of Naval Ravikant.
Hearing others speak about it reminded me of how it changed my life.

My biggest takeaway?

I was wrong.
It was very cold.

18 miles done ✅
10 miles tomorrow ☑️
PR of 48 miles for the week.

Conventional advice says,
don’t share your goals in public.

I say otherwise.
I told my Instagram followers I’d run 18 miles.

Rain turned into snow.
My hands got numb.
