Students from Dr. Smith’s entrepreneurship class visited the Bandy Center today to learn about the history of the carpet industry in Northwest Georgia.

Dr. Ray Smith is at Harvard Business School representing the WSOB at a conference on teaching with cases. Dr. Smith is also the author of several published cases he uses in his management and international business classes.

The first week of class is wrapped up, in the WSOB. It was so great seeing students on campus this week and we look forward to a great semester!

Dr. Fernando Garcia Dalton State Foundation Chair in Management addresses students and guests at today’s Latin American Association-Mohawk Industries Scholarship Day. WSOB students Katie Balino, Reyes De La Paz, Neyra Rameriz, and Fernanda Vasquez received scholarships.

Dean Helms had a surprise visit from two alumni this week. Wesley Harkin (Class of 2021) works in IT at Lazer Logistics in Alpharetta, GA and John Smith (Class of 2015) is the General Manager at our Dalton Red Lobster, one of the best performing locations in the chain.

Have you noticed our employers of the day in the lobby of our building? Several days a week, the WSOB hosts an employer in the lobby of our building. Be sure to stop by and ask them about internship or job opportunities!!

Did you know the Wright School of Business has a homework lab? Located in room 145 of Gignilliat Hall, this space is open for students to study and collaborate. Today, Professor Bunch’s Social Media Marketing course is working in the homework lab to design posters for the space!

The WSOB hosted our Business Advisory Council (BAC) for lunch yesterday. The BAC advises the school on applicable skills that business students need to be successful in their career. We appreciate their advice and support!

On Friday, students were sworn into the Dalton State Student Government. Representing the Wright School of Business, Patton Pickard was sworn in as President, Ethan Owens as Vice President, and Collin Hadders as senator. We are proud of these students!

WSOB Student Ambassadors, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Reese Benton, and Mary Jones, are working on goodie bags for high school visits and tours!

Dean Helms and Dr. Ray Smith celebrated the marriage of two WSOB alumni from Spring 2024 - Josh Ashook and Jade Cagle Ashook. Dirk Weyman, also a wedding guest, next to Dr. Smith, is a WSOB alumni in his second year of Law School at Georgia State.

Brett Scott, WSOB alumnus, Class of 2022, stopped by to visit Dean Helms today and wish the WSOB luck with the AACSB Accreditation visit on Monday. Brett is now working on his MBA from Clayton State, with a concentration in Supply Chain, and is a Sourcing Associate at Mohawk!
