Today, Dallas ISD Lt. Cedillo visited our Police HQ to share that their department is collaborating with several other police departments for the UNIDOS Training, hosted at the Dallas College Bill J. Priest Center. At Dallas College, we are committed to supporting our community.

Dallas College PD Captain Randy Bratton and his El Centro Campus Officers were out working alongside DART Officers to boost safety for students, staff, and community members. It’s always encouraging to see different agencies collaborate effectively to make a positive impact.

Congratulations are in order for Dr. Herbert Ashford of Dallas College PD on earning his doctorate in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. Achieving this level of education is a significant accomplishment, with only a small percentage of people reaching it!

Dallas College Cpl. Gregory Norwood, stationed at El Centro Campus, attended today's Career Expo and had the pleasure of reconnecting with his alma mater, the University of North Texas in Denton, where he earned his Master’s Degree. We value our collaboration with UNT.

Dallas College PD sent eight female officers to the Women of Law Enforcement Conference (WoLE) 2024 in Fort Worth, TX. We are committed to equipping our officers with the best training to support their professional growth. This annual conference empowers women in policing.

As you all know, I love baseball caps! A few weeks ago at Dallas College North Lake Campus, I saw John Ochoa sporting a red and blue Dallas College trucker cap, and I couldn't resist asking him where he got it. He directed me to the amazing Pam Laney.

I had the pleasure of visiting Richland Campus where I enjoyed a good conversation with Deputy Chief Robert Baker, Sgt. Thomas Acevedo, and Officer Joanne Vallencourt. It took some convincing to get them to pose for a picture, but I approached it with respect, and it paid off!

Dallas College PD Cpl. Mark Newton delivered an outstanding CRASE training session to our Citizen’s Police Academy class today. His enthusiasm and passion were evident, and our staff and scholars are now better equipped to respond in crisis situations.

A few days ago, Officers McRee and Fisher, assigned to Dallas College North Lake Campus, were approached by a concerned citizen about a lone kitten trying to cross the road. With Irving Animal Services closed, our partners at the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas helped!

A big S/o to retired Dallas Police Sgt. Cheryl Cornish for her generous donation of hand sanitizer to Dallas College PD. Lt. Gregg delivered the sanitizer to our police offices across all campuses. Thank you Sgt. Cornish for keeping us safe. We greatly appreciate your support.

Nobody brings everyone together like Dallas College Cedar Valley Campus president Dr. Joe Seabrooks. It's always exciting to see students and the community come together!

Cpl. Gregory Norwood taught a session on Use of Force today at the CPA class. Our goal is to educate both our staff and scholars about the appropriate levels of force permitted in the field for making arrests or gaining control of a suspect.

Dallas College PD provided security at the Civilized Fest event today at the Cedar Valley Campus. While some attendees expressed concerns about our presence, it's important to explain its necessity. With an expected turnout of 2,500 people, large gatherings can pose safety risks.

Dallas College Police Corporal Gregory Norwood is currently overseeing the State Fair Classic, featuring the Grambling State Tigers versus the Prairie View A&M Panthers at the Cotton Bowl. The State Fair Classic is a longstanding annual college football rivalry.

Correction: Cpl. Norwood is working the State Fair Classic, not overseeing it.

Dallas College Officer Robert Guerra and Cpl. Gregory Norwood participated in the Assist the Officer Fundraiser to support Dallas Police Senior Cpl. Karissa David, who was critically injured in a shooting last month. Thank you for showing your support for our sister in blue.
