Writing advice that's actually, objectively good: Keep a list of names you like. Guy names, gal names, unisex names, surnames. You hear a name you like, add it to the list. It'll save you so much time when you need to name your characters!

So, uh, last week I talked myself into joining my local library writer’s group for some external motivation. Reached out, got all the info, did the thing. The first meeting for me is in 2 hours. Now I’m nervous & second-guessing my decision. Help. 🫣

Welp, I went. It wasn’t what I expected, but I’m looking forward to the silent writing meetings. I think it could be really good for me & my writing once I settle into it. The vibes were immediately welcoming & easy-going, too. 😊

are authors even real? discuss 🤨 - never see them writing, just lying on the floor crying - claim their job is books but don't live in bookstores - they know a lot about mvrder, not a lot about about where commas go - if you ask what their book is about, they don't even know??

I just heard a heartbreaking story of an author losing an agent & wanted to pop in here for the querying crowd. This might be a thread, so bear w me. I’m 42, so most of what I say here comes from life experience. But if I can offer one thing, it’ll always be TRUST. YOUR. GUT 1/11

What I need to do today b/c I was sick yesterday: -College work -Finish a critique for a friend What I’m ending up having to do instead: -Clean upholstery & the downstairs living area b/c mice have found their way in looking for crumbs & food.🐁 Yes, that’s a mice eaten Reeses.

My dream goal in publishing? It used to be becoming a full time author. I’m not sure it’s that anymore. Now I think it’s walking into my local indie bookstore to see my books on their local author display, & to host a “meet the author” signing thing with them.

Might be time for me to give up on this poll. 😕
