Church leaders see catholic universities, schools and hospitals as religious institutions which happen to provide education and healthcare services. That surprises many of their students & patients & also the taxpayers who provide public funding. smh.com.au/national/the-a…

Such a lovely story. NSW is lucky to have an exemption to the state residency rules for people like Linda Koehne who moved from SA to be with family in NSW as her illness progressed. Those rules make no sense when VAD is legal in all states. abc.net.au/news/2024-12-0…

Give us a break… The Catholic Church would be banging on about “shocking statistics” regardless of the numbers of people using VAD. #VAD #assisteddying catholicweekly.com.au/vad-report-del…

Ended up dying in a paddock…..in the back of a Ute. The religious operator of aged care facility in New Zealand forced a very sick resident to leave his home for an assisted death. He would have preferred to die in his own bed. #VAD #assisteddying nzherald.co.nz/nz/patient-has…

We welcome the Australian Medical Association’s new position statement on voluntary assisted dying. It is patient-centred & recognises that both palliative care and VAD co-exist as valid end-of-life choices. AMA President AMA Media #vad ama.com.au/articles/ama-p…

A generous gift after VAD. Frances Fleming donated her brain to multiple sclerosis research to help find treatments which might allow others to avoid the decades of suffering she endured with this cruel disease. MS Australia #VAD #assisteddying abc.net.au/news/2025-04-0…

As lawmakers in Britain debate VAD, the BBC is invited to watch Californian Wayne Hawkins draw his last peaceful breaths, assisted by his doctor & supported by his loving family. Hopefully British MPs will allow their community this compassionate choice. bbc.com/news/articles/…

BREAKING… UK MPs vote for assisted dying laws. It is expected to pass the House of Lords. It was a close vote but compassion has prevailed. Terminally ill people in the UK now have a choice in their final days. #VAD #assisteddying theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

We wholeheartedly agree. Doctors who put their religious beliefs before their patients well-being and legal right to medical care should consider whether they are in the right profession. #assisteddying #abortion theconversation.com/doctors-should…

Susan Carter’s Bill to restrict VAD in religious aged care homes is inconsistent with residents rights under new federal Aged Care Laws. Religious bodies seek to put ideology before their legal/moral obligations to residents in their care. #nswpol smh.com.au/politics/nsw/p…

Susan Carter must withdraw this invalid bill from NSW Parliament. It is morally and legally in breach of residents rights under new federal aged care laws. Religious aged care facilities cannot force residents from their homes to access VAD. #nswpol smh.com.au/politics/nsw/c…

Dying with Dignity NSW (@dwdnsw) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Susan Carter and 13 MPs would allow religious groups to prevent aged care residents accessing VAD. The Liberals, Shooters, Libertarians + MPs formerly known as One Nation once stood for individual choice + freedoms. Now? Not so much… #vad #nswpol smh.com.au/national/i-m-8…

It is absurd that VAD cannot be discussed using telehealth due an overriding federal law designed to prevent suicide chat rooms on the internet. Use this link to ask the federal attorney general to sort this out ASAP: bit.ly/DGRowland abc.net.au/news/2026-04-1…
