PHILOSOPHY TRIP📜 NU Students Philosophy department offered a "discover day" with a tour and taster lectures on areas of philosophy the A-level does not cover. It was good for students interested in philosophy, and for students thinking about Uni as a progression route.

SKILLS WEEK: ✏️ Our Year 12 students in Graphics have been participating in our third #SkillsWeek by honing their skills in #Creativity, by designing logos for their fictional businesses with the use of screen printing. #DSFCSkillsWeek #SkillsBuilder

SKILLS WEEK: 🌍 We hosted speakers from Newcastle University and Discover Economics discussing Economics and climate change. Encouraging our students to #AimHigh, the talk aimed to promote Economics as a degree course/career to students who don't currently study the subject.

SKILLS WEEK: 📄 This #DSFCSkillsWeek, our Year 12 Fine Art students have been developing their #DigitalLiteracy and #Creative skills to produce expressive zines. Participating in student led masterclasses which were designed and delivered by some of our Year 13 students.

SKILLS WEEK: 🧪 Our Year 12 students in Chemistry as part of our third #SkillsWeek were working in pairs to produce a pH curve for the reaction of a strong base with a strong acid. Utilising their skills in #TeamWork they had to work together to identify and risk assess hazards.

SKILLS WEEK: 📸 During #DSFCSkillsWeek, Year 12 Photography students have used their #Creativity in participating in a series of student-led #DigitalLiteracy masterclasses, which have further developed their technical skills in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

SKILLS WEEK: 🎨 As part of #SkillsWeek, Art, Craft and Design and Fashion and Textiles students participated in a workshop led by Year 13 Amelia Brown. Using her #Leadership skills Amelia led lino print masterclasses to both cohorts. #SkillsBuilder #DSFCSkillsWeek

SKILLS WEEK: ⚖️ During #SkillsWeek, Year 12 Sociology students had an insightful visit to Durham Crown Court as part of their Crime and Deviance topic. Encouraging them to #AimHigh with their future career choices and wider conceptualisation of real-life court proceedings.
