The Tories have been kite flying this story in the Mail and Telegraph for several years but nothing has happened because it's impossible to implement. There aren't enough beds full stop let alone free single rooms. Culture wars BS as usual.

The consultation runs until late June. There may be an election in July. It's ALL TORY SPIN. Designed to distract the electorate and grab the headlines. Don't fall for it.

The press release of course DOESN'T say what the headlines in the Mail and Telegraph do. You will only be able to access single sex care 'where reasonably possible'. Trans patients MAY be placed in single rooms (there aren't that many single rooms). It's all spin.

Everybody already has the right to ask for single sex carem and yes you can say 'I don't want a trans woman/man'.

And then the hospital says 'sorrynwe can't disclose our staff's medical history'. Or 'all our gastroenterologists are male, sorry'.

Given the state of the UK it’s time I think we need to organise and fight back… in the 00s I carried the banner while we fought for our rights and I think it’s time for us to march again

My therapist wrote me a letter for PIP explaining that I was discharged from services not because I was well but because I have had every treatment the NHS offers. So naturally they cut my award safe in the knowledge that nobody would write to them about it.

The brilliant Josephine Hughes (a parent to trans adults and a BACP accredited counsellor) has a fantastic podcast telling the stories of trans people, their supportive parents and partners.

Listen to her new interview with parent Helen (not me!) here ⤵️

So these are the ACTUAL proposals to change the NHS constitution, not what the Mail/Telegraph claim. As written they are probably lawful but only because they just reiterate the equality act. If put into practice inappropriately they might not be.

Speaking as a cervix haver, it's as meaningful to me as my appendix. I rely on the medical profession to assure me it's there, i have no idea what it looks like and it's only relevant if it needs checking.

Why Rosie Duffield is so obsessed with this body part is a mystery.

They don't actually say anything new. They don't change anything, they just put a different spin on it. They are effectively so vague - leaving the individual institution to judge what is 'legitimate and proportionate' they are just passing the buck to hospitals.

When I say 'many more' am mot aware of ONE proven case of a trans woman in patient sexually assaulting either another patient or staff member. But there are male staff who have been convicted. Here's one lbc.co.uk/news/male-nurs….

Janey Godley What this does to trans people is one thing, and is terrible, but what it tells us about what has happened to politics in the UK is devastating on a historical scale, because this indicates a silent authoritarian religious right wing coup has taken over both main parties.

So many people in my mentions calling me a man right now, I hate to break it to them but I’ve been treated as a woman since 98 and legally recognised since 2005. If you think randoms on twitter calling me a man will stop me living my life, think again.

Are they going to ban trans men from men’s wards? Are they actually going to force trans men, into female wards ?

Emma Stansfield Janey Godley SpeakOutSister Hospitals aren't a TARDIS.

Side rooms are a finite and extremely limited resource.

Who do you suggest makes way:

The patient with an infectious condition?

The patient with dementia or other cognitive issue thats extremely distressed?

The patient who is dying?
