How do you in a judgment say "dude said really nasty stuff" without quoting it? "I note that I have cited the least offensive of the statements and threats made by [litigant] in those emails." Very slick solution. Tip of the hat to Justice Little! Judgment here:

Media reports indicate HRM Didulo’s preliminary inquiry has been rescheduled from March 2 to April 13-17. Does this tell us much? Not really. The preliminary hearing is roughly equivalent to a US grand jury. The Crown presents evidence that could support a conviction on the

Pseudolaw marks and defines certain individuals. Case in point? Russell Anthony Porisky. Porisky between the late 1990s and 2010 operated Canada’s largest pseudolaw scheme, the Paradigm Education Group. PEG was the culmination of the Detaxer period, where pseudolaw was aimed

CBC news recently reported the Crown has stayed (ended) charges against three Diduloids facing “not providing names” charges. Probably means little. The Crown frequently ends prosecutions for minor charges where alternative remedies or sanctions are followed. So though nothing

The Australian Lowy Institute The Lowy Institute (a thinktank) has released a “policy brief”: “The global sovereign citizen movement”. I have to say, the product isn’t sitting particularly well with me. The title captures much of the problem. There’s “Sovereign Citizens”. They’re a

For me writing and music are linked. Inextricably. I've spent decades drafting and editing enveloped in pounding, aggressive, enraged, hopeless music. Music to accompany an artillery barrage. That might leak through into what I write. Maybe. Miss dancing until my feet bleed.

Dan Neidle's (Dan Neidle) Tax Policy Group has published an excellent review of "Empower the People", a UK-based tax fraud scheme that uses US 1099-OID forms to (sometimes) trigger fraudulent Internal Revenue Service refunds. Highest recommendation. taxpolicy.org.uk/2026/02/25/sim…

One urine, two cups. Yep. Tonight’s court jurisprudence special addresses whether intoxicated driving “Saferoads” regulations require you pee once or twice, voluntarily. The Saferoads program is a non-criminal method for sanctioning driving while intoxicated. Usually, it works

The New Zealand Police have published (proactively) their standard instructions for managing and responding to "Sovereign Citizens". police.govt.nz/sites/default/… The information response instructions at pages 15-21 are very interesting, and I'd say nicely composed and explained.

It's always useful and interesting to see what front-line court staff and other government officials have to say about the experience of managing pseudolaw types. David Heilpern, a now former Magistrate, explains how pseudolaw users create delay and disruption for court

I am defective... The CBC has a podcast series on HRM Didulo and her antics. Here: cbc.ca/listen/cbc-pod… Can't make myself listen to it. I've tried starting a few times, but I simply loath podcasts and video programming thingies. I want to read. READ. It's faster. It

The CBC has released a six-part podcast relating to HRM Didulo and her times in Richmound Saskatchewan. I have projects that involve Didulo underway, so I thought I’d better review the content. What follows is my review on whether to bother with the podcasts. First, I want to

English translation of a 2024 French law enforcement briefing on "Sovereign Citizens". Concludes: The threat posed by "sovereign citizens" in France remains minor compared to that of the jihadist movement, which remains the most significant terrorist risk on national soil. Full

Academic piece by Amy Cohen and Ilana Gershon that in part discusses parallels between President Donald Trump's approach to agreements and contracts, and pseudolaw contract theory: lawreview.uchicago.edu/sites/default/… It's neat. Worth a look.

The Supreme Court of Canada has released its 2025 annual report. I homed in on the statistics, which are as usual thin. 10 years of data. No startling changes. The SCC reports 37% of new appeals were by SRLs. It doesn't mention that none of those appeals were granted leave.

Multiple Canadian news outlets are reporting that the criminal proceedings against HRM Queen of Canada Romana Didulo were stayed (dropped). So, what does that mean? We don’t know. And we’re unlikely to know unless the Crown volunteers an explanation. Or HRM Didulo sues for

Dr. Sarteschi published this letter which stays proceedings against HRM Didulo. From my reading of the letter, this does not terminate the more serious Criminal Code s 423.1 Intimidation of Justice System Participant charge. Media reporting on this proceeding may be inaccurate.

The Saskatchewan Crown has explained why charges against HRM Didulo were dropped: "After careful consideration, Public Prosecutions has concluded that based on the evidence gathered, there was not a reasonable likelihood of conviction." As expected. The issue was evidence. But
