#OTD in 1959 HMS #Plymouth was launched from HMNB Devonport by Viscountess Nancy Astor. She was one of the first ships in the Falklands war. Despite being attacked by 5 aircraft she survived and rejoined the task force, playing a key role in retaking South Georgia Island

Admiralty Manual of Seamanship: Vol. 1, from 1915. Original owner was Sub Lieutenant J.A. Leckie of HMS Hermione, an Astraea class cruiser launched at Devonport in 1893 that served in the Great War as guard ship at Southampton. Price one shilling and sixpence.
