This afternoon at the 🇱🇹 National Museum: the first presentation of the book ‘Escaping Stalin’ written by 🇩🇰 Brian Rasmussen and Thomas G. Svaneborg. Special guest was Algirdas Tamasauskas, who fled 🇱🇹 to 🇩🇰 with his mother in 1945. The memories are painful but need to be told.
The ‘Escape from Stalin’ is a dramatic story of how repression causes people to flee their homeland in favour of countries with freedom and democracy. At the Mykolas Romeris University today, the discussion focused on the treatment of refugees and the hardship of building a new life in 🇩🇰.
Many thanks to Lithuania MFA | #StandWithUkraine for arranging the visit to Šiaulai today - including the beautiful Venclauskiai House that in the interwar period housed the 🇩🇰 Consulate

Today I had the pleasure of hosting a meeting of Women Ambassadors’ Club – a space where diplomacy meets friendship. Our honorary guest, 🇱🇹 Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė, joined us for what we jokingly call “girls’ talk” about security, defense, global stability and the life itself.
