May the fourth be with you! Appropriately, for today's DIAS #ReachForTheStars lookback at entries from the past...these four may inspire you to enter our 'Out of this World - Deep Sky' category #Astrophotography
Did you know that this year DIAS #ReachForTheStars 2024 has a mobile phone category? Do you have photos that would qualify for our 'Night Sky in Your Hand' category? Full details can be found on reachforthestars.ie
PS This one wouldn't be eligible but we love it anyway š
Dr Brian O'Halloran @[email protected] Iād say more flares to come as the sunspot group is growing in size and complexity. Also now has a strong magnetic inversion line and a so-called delta classification.
There's just over a week before DIAS #ReachForTheStars 2024 c;loses for entries. Over the next few days we'll be sharing some of the fantastic entries over the last three years, which may inspire some budding astrophotographers. Watch this space #DIASdiscovers
Did you know the Phoenix Park has a #darksky due to its Victorian gas lamps ? Look up, you never know you may witness the #AuroraBorealis DIAS Dunsink Observatory 'Aurora Forecast' below š

Astronomer, astrophotographer and writer Annie Russell Maunder, born #OnThisDay in 1868, battled misogyny to become a leading solar astronomer and one of the first female Fellows of the Royal Astronomical Society. Her work transformed our understanding of the Sun: bit.ly/3vOQM2y
Christiaan Huygens FRS, was born #OnThisDay in 1629. Amongst other achievements in maths, physics and astronomy, Huygens studied the rings of Saturn and discovered the planet's moon Titan. He also invented the pendulum clock, for centuries the most accurate timekeeper available.
The news all you Irish astrophotography folk have been waiting for - DIAS #ReachForTheStars is back! Some changes this year including a new mobile phone category, with changes to our other categories too. Check out the details! #DIASdiscovers

Wonderful to have Science Foundation Ireland and IrishResearchCouncil staff DIAS Dunsink Observatory today. We even got to see sunspots through the historic Grubb Telescope.
