Du Bois had a family plot at the Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven -- Lot B on Magnolia Avenue. It seems that as late as 1954 he considered being buried there, before his move to Ghana and renunciation of U.S. citizenship.

Celestino was extremely proud of his distinguished military service and becoming one of the first Latino Army Rangers in 1951, but he was also a peace activist who served for a number of years on the City of New Haven Peace Commission
