I just listened the amazing podcast of Casual Inference Podcast with Mark van der Laan on target learning.

For all my friends, listen to it!

The discussion about estimand, causal gap, and the entire enterprise is just so clean and 💡💡🤌🤌🤌

Really great!

The program is out for our Applied Causal Graphs Workshop in Berlin next week. You can still register: forms.gle/ywKmbZyzsxWU46…. One day, three keynotes, ten talks, four egg-timer pitches, great food, and lots of time to discuss your favorite DAGs!

Join us at CARE on Thursday, April 18th to hear about some of Sander Becker's newest work, covering causal abstraction using the machinery of generalized functions.

Link to his webpage in the next tweet, link to the talk here: portal.valencelabs.com/events/post/ca…

Despite my huge love for academia I’m starting to lose motivation. My dream has been for many years to teach and do research. Why is it so difficult to find a job that matches this without having to move every 2-3 years? I know I’m still super privileged, but I’m also so tired…

Looking in from the outside, neuroscience based on fMRI has struck me as being like Ptolemaic astronomy - measurement without a proper map to know what you’re looking at. It seems like things might be finally about to change. Very exciting!

So Bournemouth conceded a penalty today due to a handball by Adam Smith. You’d think that he, of all people, would get away with that.

I've already adjusted for the fact that Deutsche Bahn Personenverkehr will be delayed more often than not. But why can't they also adjust for this? Why keep pretending that I'll make connections I clearly won't?

Visiting the Philosophy Dept at Penn this Friday April 5th to discuss 'Causation in the Life Sciences'.

I'll focus on causal strength & stability relating these to scientific discussions of causes that are sufficient, deterministic & generalizable.

As promised, here's the final pre-print for 'The Worldly Infrastructure of Causation' (w/ Porter Williams and Jim Woodward forthcoming Ben). Thanks to all the people who were supportive of the project while we were writing the paper.

Heading to UNIVERSITÄT LEIPZIG to give a new talk linking causal discussions in psychometrics and discrimination. Not sure how it'll go, but I'm hoping it will show the promise of causal analysis for linking methodological discussions from different disciplines. Wish me luck!

I never planned to become a methodologist. But now that I am, it's nice to be able to support people in their goals, solving problems they don't see and could not solve. I mean it. Often nicer than furthering my own goals.
