We have figures for the UK claimant count up to November 2020. This figure combines people seeking work on Universal Credit and Jobseekers' Allowance. We can see that even with the furlough scheme protecting some jobs, a huge number of extra people are seeking work.

Here we can see that the number of people in hospital with Covid-19 (blue line), including people admitted with Covid and later diagnosed in hospital with Covid, is dropping sharply. Data up to and including Jan 25th. More info on the data sets here: x.com/Covid19DataUK/…

Looking at mechanical ventilation beds occupied (orange line), we can see that from Jan 24th to Jan 27th numbers fell. We will be watching this figure closely to see if it becomes a downward trend. MV beds occupied data definition here: x.com/Covid19DataUK/…

Excess deaths are simply 'more deaths than usual for the time of year'. Here we compare weekly deaths in 2020 (green line) vs the 2015-19 average (blue line). The data (from ONS) clearly shows that 2020 was not a normal year for deaths - we're seeing just over 76k excess deaths.
