for critically ill patients over ~35 years old, I’d disagree risk of contrast/radiation harm is extremely low high illness severity ➡️ missing stuff carries a high cost if contemplating whether to scan a future/current ICU pt, would tend to err towards doing it 🤷‍♂️

I think the fact that only 6% of resident physicians would qualify for financial hardship/relief is indicative of a larger problem with the medical school selection process.

Moonlighting in a critical access ED has been great learning, a chance to serve a community I’ve become very attached to, and…a major butt kicking. Grateful for seasoned nurses, tough and funny patients…and my bed. Big respect to those who do this work full time.

Having someone you've never met trust you to take their baby, parent, or loved one from them during an emergency is the closest thing to sacred I've ever experienced. It's an honor worth reflecting on sometimes.
