Don't feel bad when you see ponies in the rain. They have their own weatherproof gear! Their coats are naturally very greasy which creates a barrier to keep the rain out. Their manes and tails also work to funnel water away from their body and onto the ground @rlchamphotos

Scropton Riding for the Disabled have very sadly had to make the decision that our centre will not be re-opening until early 2021. We are incredibly disappointed that we can’t re-open sooner, but by being patient and planning ahead. #RoadtoReopening #COVID19 #ScroptonEquestrian

Your periodic reminder that with the closing of the Olympics we’re only half way through a summer of action from Tokyo. The Paralympics are coming soon...

Dr Chris Whitaker (@christheowl) 's Twitter Profile Photo

..these Paralympics take place against a backdrop of unprecedented challenge for disabled people, who are demonstrating extraordinary resilience in the pandemic. As well as the world class sport, I hope these games serve as a platform for talking about wider social issues.

Dr Chris Whitaker (@christheowl) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Just to also say I realise the Paralympics aren’t for everyone. Not every disabled person wants to be a Paralympian, in the same way as not everyone aspires to be an Olympian. For me though, anything that gets us thinking and talking about disability has to be a good thing.
