The end to Groundwork workcamps was tragic for native woodland conservation. IMO their work was the most significant work ever carried out for native woodland conservation in Ireland (protecting the best examples of native woodland in the country rather than trying to create)

Yes, I agree. The real issue is around the Irish state’s capacity to provide essential infrastructure and services. Low taxes (both corporate and income) mean underprovision of basic services.

This is a very positive step forward for cetacean conservation in Irish waters. The next logical step is for Ireland to join #ASCOBANS to benefit from and contribute to transboundary cooperation efforts across NW Europe ASCOBANS
