As eggspected, the third is a lot paler than the first two. The ink well was almost dry.

I've never before seen oak apple galls that looked quite so much like apples!🌿🍎🌿
In medieval times these galls were used to make ink & in #folklore they were used to predict the weather of the year ahead.

My Cosmos seedlings made it through the night in the greenhouse. Despite the frost, it dropped to 1.8° Celsius in there, but no lower. Phew.

There has been a very loud Song Thrush in the garden the last few days, sitting in the top of various trees and absolutely singing his heart out!

There is a lovely display of Field Wood-rush (Luzula campestris) in our garden now. This plant is a good indicator for acidic soils in which it likes to grow.

You may also know this plant as Good Friday Grass, as its emergence coincides with the holiday in which it was named.

I had a meeting in Edinburgh so I fleetingly visited the National Museum of Scotland. This is the Orkney hood, an actual Iron Age garment!

When the Little Girl was younger still & taken to the beach for sea air, she liked to feed the gulls. This was frowned upon, but she didn't care, she longed to hear their tales of the great Atlantic rollers, of bottles of brandy in dark caves, of wild cliffs where no human went.

Can we stop calling National Museum Wales ‘an attraction’. We are not at risk of losing a theme park here. We are at risk of losing an institution that offers free education to millions of people and showcases Welsh culture and the National Treasures of Wales to the world.

9.25 and he is still wide awake! OH is awake again now and will take over with him again!

It’s 8.21 and Young Un is still awake! Hopefully, soon he will sleep…at least I needn’t feel guilty about going back to bed - the wind has eased but the showers are so heavy from a patchwork sky of white, grey and blue.

So I’ve been up with young un since 3.30am again, OH did the first half of the night. The birds are singing yet again and Mr Blackbird is singing his song from the top of the Apple tree, even though the garden is still wrapped in the darkness of night.

We know how to cook adobo because my late mum was Filipino, but if you don’t know how to cook it and want a taste of the Philippines, you can buy adobo cooking sauce! I never knew such a thing existed…
