Have you sent a letter to Premier Eby yet, telling him you object to recriminalizing substance use? We made an easy form to use and send a letter. Takes 2 min.

Then, write to Ya'ara Saks יערה זקס and tell her to .

reminder that

risky drug use and psychological distress are 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, not 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀, of homelessness

homelessness is caused by a lack of housing that people can afford: The Rent Is Too High

“We want to work with the province in tackling the crisis and be part of a collaborative strategy. In this regard, we feel we need to move away from criminalizing behaviors that are the direct result of the harms of colonialism.”

It’s absolutely reprehensible how the CPC are using the toxic drug death crisis to fear monger and rage farm for votes.
People are dying from the toxic drug supply
Safe regulated supply saves lives.
We are not in an addiction crisis. They are using our losses with no solutions

This is disgusting. He’s using the deaths of 42,000 people in this country for his theatrics. He’s unserious about the emergency we are in. He’s showing clearly that if he was leader, everything would be far worse. This man is a stain.

Politicians like Daniel Fontaine don’t have the facts. They politicize visible poverty + drug use to score cheap points. 🍉 Nurse Ranger 💊 did the hard work of decoding the lies. People need dignified homes and regulated drugs, not more policing. cbc.ca/listen/live-ra…

🍉 Nurse Ranger 💊 spoke clearly, convincingly and credibly on CBC today. Punishment to a health and social problem will not solve anything. Thank you to nurses who lead and who care about the whole person, the whole patient. HRNA/AIIRM

'decriminalization' is an exemption under secret 56(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act so that adults in possession of 2.5g or less of certain drugs are not subject to criminal charges AND HAS NOTHING TO WITH PUBLIC DRUG USE WHICH IS NOT PROHIBITED BY THE ACT,

Very disappointed that BC is doing this. Criminalization is never the answer. It only increases the divide and targets people who can least afford it Canadian Drug Policy Coalition

“We’re very concerned, and truthfully believe this to be an improper circumvention of the BC Supreme Court order,”...“B.C. has not acted transparently, nor have they consulted with people who are going to be most affected by this issue.”

If this guy becomes Prime Minister we can expect a massive drug war crackdown.
More cops.
More arrests,
More prisons built.
No decrim.
No safer supply.
No mushroom dispensaries.

The result will be even more deaths, more disorder, and less freedom for everyone.

Sussanne Skidmore She/Her Toxic drug deaths are worker deaths. Plenty start as an injury at work. No drug war on the shop floor. There’s a specter haunting Canada, the spectre of prohibition.

Premier Eby can’t be bothered to mention the hundreds of workers killed by the toxic drug crisis at Day of Mourning for BC workers killed & injured on the job. Perhaps he feels partly responsible.

Unregulated drug deaths began skyrocketing while Pierre Poilievre was in PM Harper's Cabinet

Why? Shift to illicit fentanyl spurred by the 'crack down' on pharmaceuticals (e.g. Oxycontin) and 'war on drugs' disruptions/seizures

Since then, the genie has been out of the bottle

Criminalization doesn’t reduce drug use. Period. It doesn’t reduce rates of people who use drugs and it doesn’t increase rates of people getting into recovery. It doesn’t even reduce crime and doesn’t reduce homelessness, either. This is what political misinformation looks like:
