this is one of them ones. anyone who has engaged Rahsaan’s work knows that you can’t go back to the person you were before reading it. it hits you like that.

This was an amazing experience. Definitely a Vibe! Corey J. Miles is poetic. He takes what could be considered a despondent existence for Black southern rural folks and shows us they are so much more than their pain.

calling something a 'gap in the literature' is very mechanical. feels inorganically additive. there's no gap in a conversation. there's no gap in a chorus. join in, insert yourself, challenge, partake, inherit, extend... idk, but we need to let go of the 'gap' talk

if my comments were ever full of mainly white people agreeing with me I would question my post. no one is hating on Caitlin Clark because she is white. folks have to learn how to talk about Clark’s celebrity without undermining how Black women have made a WNBA possible

before the arguement was black folks ain’t smart enough to get into elite positions, but now they say DEI got us there or we plagiarized. the issue is that white mediocrity is failing & visible

the assumption here is that the most qualified person is always white.

It lets me know that most white people have no idea what people of color go through because generally POC hired are more qualified than the white people they beat out. DEI benefits businesses more than POC

Something can make you feel seen, good, & bring joy and still be problematic. Rather than denying the problematic pieces to salvage your relationship to the thing, a more interesting and fulfilling conversation takes up the messiness of a thing and what that reveals about ourself
