The Conowingo Dam has 11 turbines, which power engines that can produce up to 572 megawatts of electricity, enough to provide energy to 165,000 Maryland homes.

This summer, don’t miss the tremendous recreational activities at the Conowingo Dam! Whether its boating, hiking, fishing, or bird watching - hundreds of thousands of visitors stop by the dam every year to have fun and explore nature.

Every year, we remove an average of 600 tons of trash and debris around the Conowingo Dam. It's just one part of our commitment to keeping our waterways sustainable, fresh, and clean.

We are proud that the Conowingo Dam is able to prevent 867,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions every year. That's like taking 186,000 cars off the road.
