We could get angry at Suella’s latest piece of performative, pandering cruelty or… instead: let’s promote the excellent work done by Shelter, Centrepoint, The Passage Charity and other fine charities actually trying to help homeless people, especially now, as winter approaches.

I post on political matters only if I might burst a blood vessel. I was brought up in Salvation Army hostels, done loads of soup runs, led a project for young street homeless people. Street homelessness is desperation. Poverty, trauma, family breakdown, addiction. Not a choice!

Well done to third year University of Gloucestershire nursing students Cathy and Sophie who were tasked with creating a presentation on 'silver trauma' at Lydney Minor Injury and Illness Unit. Their display is now raising awareness/knowledge of trauma in the over-65s for all hospital colleagues.

A good morning with colleagues at both Lydney and Dilke (pictured here the super Lydney therapy team). Useful to catch up with latest plans and how the team are feeling about the imminent transition to the new FoD hospital - still work to do to get this right Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS FT

Several roads in & around Tewkesbury have been closed by flooding. This is impacting routes around the hospital although the hospital itself (other than the car park) is not flooded. If you are planning on visiting the MIIU, please ring the triage line on 0300 421 7777 NHS Gloucestershire

The new Forest of Dean Community Hospital is really taking shape, with the signage on the front now in place. The transition of services is getting underway - watch this space for further updates soon! Forest of Dean District Council

We need to keep telling this story: “My 18-year-old daughter was at Starbucks, alone, the other night. A man came up to her and started talking to her. A barista handed her “an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up.” How grateful I am for people who look out
