🌟 Celebrating a new walking route in Colchester! 🌟

🚶‍♀️ Walk With Words connects the City Centre with the University & Greenstead. 🌳 The first chance to walk the route is on 11 May as part of Jane's Walks Festival. Interactive signposts will be installed later in the year.

Oh wow! 🤩 The Northern Lights above Riverside Estate in Colchester! This rare sight, captured last week, was due to a particularly strong geomagnetic storm caused by increased solar activity. 🌌 Scientists think it will become more common in the near future!

- 25 April 1660, Sir Harbottle Grimston, MP for was elected Speaker of the House of Commons. In the Civil War, he remained a Parliamentarian but had Royalist sympathies. His house was burned during the 1648 .

National Grid are starting a statutory public consultation regarding the proposed Norwich to Tilbury project.

This involves an upgrade to the electricity transmission connection - and lots of pylons!

The consultation closes on 18 June.
