Saw Nick Cave in Paris recently at the Accor Arena and I was really struck by that song Joy where he sings “We’ve all had too much sorrow, now it the time for joy.” I was thinking to myself, yeah that’s about right.

Rest in peace Claudia Cardinale. My favorite performance of hers is The Leopard as Angelica Sedara, but the first time I ever saw was this moment in 8 1/2 (1963), gliding into the film, a muse capturing all our attention without a word exuding effortless charm. Grazie Claudia.
