Boxing Day and I looked at a number of games from the North East to Yorkshire, but settled on the early afternoon kick off down Irlam....just off the Manchester Ship canal.

There was a decent crowd on to see Irlam take on West Didsbury and Chorlton, not sure where the pre match rain came from, didn't see that in the forecast.

Irlam took the lead just before half time from the penalty spot, on a heavy pitch...though WD and C had shaded the first half.

Irlam added a second with fifteen minutes remaining to the frustration of the away support...

The visitors pulled a goal back in the third minute of stoppage time but it wasn't to be. A competitive game, very watchable for the neutral.

Shame...keeper had a fine game.

Pressure .....what Pressure?

Good entertainment this afternoon down Longridge way where Bradford squeezed past PNE women in the FA Cup. Some good possession and attacking play by North End but it wasn't to be.

A few more... Bradford went 02 up and PNE pulled one back before the break.

A result hard to take, but sporting consolations from the Bradford side.

BBC2 9pm. Tonight should be interesting viewing.How the MoD and Government still hide the truth in the treatment of our Forces veterans. Shame it's not on BBC1.....Post Officesque in hiding the truth so I hear.

A busy few days on the road in Hull, Whitby and Southampton so it was good to just potter down the road and stay local watching Thornton Cleveleys in Cup action under the lights against Radcliffe.

It was always going to be a big ask v Radcliffe and this penalty didn't help the cause....

TC stuck to the task, pulled a goal back and almost grabbed a second in the closing minutes. Put a few the missus took as well to keep her happy.

A decent game over in Garstang where Thornton Cleveleys came away with the three points and possible safety from the drop.

Not looking too good for Garstang though.

Woody takes some stopping, he had a good game.
