Last time I checked college coaches get to evaluate and decide who they recruit/pay to come to their school. As a coach never throw your players under the bus. Hold them accountable at practice and behind closed doors but praise them or correct them as a group publicly.

Some of the best coaches in the state play with the cards they were dealt, turn boys into men, and go 5-5 every year. Hand picking the best athletes in your area and beating less talented teams doesn't make you a great coach, it makes you a great recruiter.

Some of the best players I have been blessed to coach had tough parents who wanted their kid coached hard and held accountable. x.com/i/status/20118…

High school football should be about developing 0 star football players into 5 star men. When talent is rewarded more than effort and toughness, what are we really teaching the next generation of young men?
