It’s amazing what a D L can do when they aren’t taught to have their eyes in the backfield and treating every down as a pass rush. Extension. Feel n’ fight pressure. Set a new LOS. Do YOUR job.

Much like running the line from a squeeze end position - I tell my DL to “light the match” off the backside of the vacating OL. Point of emphasis = be tight, be right. Shortest distance between 2 points is straight line. Get “home”!

Take what the OL gives you, and exploit it. If he is a puncher, exploit the hands, clear, turn the corner. Aggravated punchers will often begin to go for big shots, dumping weight into their punches - dump them into the turf with a good bull pull/snatch. FILM STUDY is key!

“You are the standard, you have to be it all the time.” Coaches, this is a non-negotiable in coaching. Do not set standards you don’t embody. Want your position group out there first? Be the first on the field. Want players to hustle between drills? You better run too.

Craig was a legend within the defensive line community. It was very evident early on he wished to elevate young men to an elite level in the trenches, by providing articulate and excellent information at their finger tips. Rest in Peace Craig, the line of scrimmage has been set.

Feet. Hands. Hips. 3 pts of contact. Violently Extend. Run the feet. Set a new LOS. Feel/Fight Pressure. Don’t backdoor. Eyes out of the backfield. Pressure doesn’t lie!

Words cannot express how proud I am of this young man. From coaching you in Freshman ball, then to varsity, seeing you kill it at college, and now on to the league. You’ve earned this, now get after it Luke Benson ! #hogs
