The half-day event, organized under the Cluster of Research Excellence in Preparedness & Response to Pandemics & Shocks at Makerere University School of Public Health, will disseminate key findings from an ongoing study in Buvma & Kalanagala districts that seeks to strengthen the reporting & registration of deaths.

Mortality surveillance offers key data to inform health interventions from policy planning to resource mobilization, allocation, and emergency response. On Friday 8th November 2024, we held the dessimnnation workshop for the Mortality Survaillance Project, aimed at strengthening death notification and reporting in Kalangala and Buvuma island districts in Uganda at Makerere University School of Public Health new auditorium, Makerere University.

Buvuma and Kalangala experience deaths from drowning, accidents, diseases, and maternal issues, yet poor access to facilities and transport challanges limit death notification and registration, hindering effective health planning and policy intervention. AFENETAfrica
