By repeatedly refusing to condemn recent remarks made by the Israeli Ambassador, this Tory Government is signalling its support for the destruction of Gaza. This is unacceptable.

5 years ago, the Government pledged to work on a definition of Islamophobia and appointed Qari Asim to the role. 3 years later they quietly dropped those plans.

It is becoming increasingly clear that they never truly intended to lay out a framework for tackling Islamophobia.

Palestinians are facing collective punishment, starvation & lack of access to medicine. The UK Government must step up push for an urgent ceasefire.

We either care about upholding human rights for everyone - including Palestinians - or we don't care about human rights at all.

The day before we commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UK abstained on a crucial vote at the UN Security Council which would have secured a ceasefire in Gaza.

The UK Government doesn't think Palestinians deserve human rights too.

10,000 Palestinian children have been killed, yet the Government claims Israel is not targeting civilians. David Cameron in 2014 said this was 'wrong and illegal', but now, as Foreign Secretary, refuses to condemn the actions of Israel.

Gaza desperately need a #ceasefireNOW .

It is beyond reprehensible that the UK and US can watch over 17,000 people, including 7,000 children, be killed, 1.9m people be displaced, and places of safety bombed relentlessly and not support a ceasefire in Gaza.

In Parliament, I highlighted the need for strong leadership to tackle Islamophobia. The longer the Tories stay in power, the longer we have no leadership and no action on Islamophobia.

My constituents, and British Muslims across the country, deserve so much better.
