One of great things about Abdi Mohamed's election was GMB London Region's strong support. Back in 2006 it was GMB stalwart + local resident John Onslow, who helped me, Ahmed & Alex win after 30 years of Lib Dem cllrs in Bow. No doubt he'd be really proud to see Cllr Abdi too!

Nearly, 9,000 older people in Tower Hamlets don't get Pension Credit and so will now lose their Winter Fuel Payment. Like Sonia, many of those are just above the income threshold 'cos of small work pensions. I hope delegates at Labour conference will demand the WFP is reinstated

I'm engrossed in Iwan Morgan's biography of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Its incredible how much was done in his first 100 days to get America's economy out of depression + protect its poorest citizens. This should be mandatory reading for all Labour Ministers. #RealDealNewDeal

This is why planning regulations are good. I’ve seen too many new builds thrown up that just years later are in pieces. What’s worse is that S106 blocks are often bought by Housing Associations who can’t keep track and then take on faulty blocks.

Around 300,000 children - equivalent to the population of over 1000 primary schools - live in homes affected by the Benefit Cap. As well as the cruel two-child limit, we also need to push for its sister policy - the Benefit Cap - to go Me for Guardian Opinion
