Thank you to Richard Morgan for having a chat with me about the consequences of using the term 'two child benefit cap' - tune into BBC Radio Ulster at around 4.20pm to hear the difference between 1. The two child limit 2. Child Benefit and 3. The Benefit Cap.

23% of families with three children experienced food insecurity as a result of the two-child limit, rising to 26% of families with four or more children - from The Food Foundation research Cliff Edge Coalition NI

Our brilliant Trustee Dr Ciara Fitzpatrick talking through the specifics of the two child limit and how it does NOT relate to Child benefit but it DOES need to change👇 Important to understand and she does a fantastic job of breaking it down.

New research from The Food Foundation shows that 23% of families with three children experienced food insecurity as a result of the two-child limit, rising to 26% of families with four or more children. #remove2childlimit

"Having two younger kids, you’re like 'what am I supposed to do for the five weeks? "It is quite worrying because what you're supposed to do without any money for five weeks, it's obviously going to be a real struggle." Cliff Edge Coalition NI

Great work by Cliff Edge Coalition NI highlighting the widespread and incorrect use of the phrase ‘2 child benefit cap’. This term conflates two separate policies – the benefit cap (mitigated in NI until March '25) and the 2 child limit to Universal Credit and Tax Credit. #Remove2ChildLimit

Please complete this survey as it deals with some important payments which are unique (and very needed!) to Northern Ireland including mitigations for the Bedroom Tax and the Benefit Cap Cliff Edge Coalition NI Dr Ciara Fitzpatrick

⬇️⬇️⬇️ Not ideal timing for this mega-important Communities NI consultation (in August and only open for approx 4 weeks) Needs to be an attempt to engage with those who avail of Benefit Cap mitigation payments, is this happening? See ... adviceni.net/policy #CliffEdge25

I have just had a chance to have a closer look at this "survey" from Communities NI and it certainly isn't an example of how to engage effectively with those who are interested, particularly those who claim Welfare Supplementary Payments, despite Colum Boyle making a commitment..

I'm a proud Committee Member of Ardoyne Association. On Thurs 26th September we have our AGM at Ardoyne Community Centre where there will be hot tea, advice stands & a short talk from me about the shaky ground that welfare mitigations are on Cliff Edge Coalition NI.
