Can you spare some time to complete our survey, which will inform how classroom post-pandemic trauma support may be improved for primary school-aged children and teachers going forward? Help us out! app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/ucw/classroo… #education #edux #teachertwitter #primary

During lockdown, I wrote 30k words about VAR and measurement theory. No-one wanted to publish it - they all said it was mad. But offsides like this Coventry one mean I can't stop thinking about it. 3 major issues.

Do you know any available videos of real lessons that are 5 mins or longer & have children in them? I want to explore teacher-pupil interactions with my students. It would be most useful if these were on the traditional/strict side of the teaching spectrum. Thank you!

NICE have amended the scope for the guidance on tic disorders to include adults. buff.ly/4aaCpny This means that they’re looking to appoint an adult who has direct lived experience of tics or #Tourette Syndrome. Deadline is midnight on 29 May 2024 buff.ly/3UGPLmF

ECTs…. Don’t wear trainers on a look round a school. They might be a laid back school with no staff dress code but you won’t know that til you go there. Play it safe, dress smart. (Same goes for interview btw)

Tourette’s hurts. 75% of those living with TS feel compelled to hide it for fear of stigma & discrimination. The effort required to hold back the hundreds of involuntary tics everyday can create an agonising build-up of tension making it feel like their body will combust.

A slight fall in the teacher leaving rate, but it remains higher than just before the pandemic and there are other signs that the recruitment and retention crisis is biting A thread unpacking some of today's key new teaching workforce statistics 🧵👇

Hard to find the words to express this without inviting snark, but the 'professionalisation' of teaching is a contributing factor to the exodus - it has meant we have imported in the jargon, bureaucracy and culture of the corporation into education and it doesn't always fit well

What does Tourette's look like :D This. I often forget how much I tic and then someone catches it on camera (my tongue!). This is me and ZJ enjoying Georgina Durrant's book launch. It really is a wonderful book.

There remains a public misunderstanding surrounding Tourettes that often leads to sweeping assumptions about people with the condition of being 'incapable'. We are artists, doctors, teachers, parents, police officers, retail workers, business owners, nurses, therapists & more!

I taught Reception ‘stealth’ mode. Now I have 23 mini ninjas creeping [unseen] on their way to lunch each day. Taking #silentcorridors to a new level.

A thread on teacher wellbeing. 40,000 teachers resigned from state schools in 2021-2022. That is 9% of the teaching workforce. If we lost 9% of our dentists or 9% of our refuse disposal workers, there would be a public outcry. 1/n

Hyperfocus: a 🧵 I’ve had a few calls with teachers this week who are trying to manage their ADHD better. They are all really different, but one thing they have in common is that timing and working habits are a real issue for them… 1/
