It's time to step away from the keyboard and get your steps up outside. I'd love to see you this Saturday 19 Oct to learn from the best Rob Baillieu who will teach us everything we need to know about doorknocking with values and integrity. RSVP here - claireferresmiles.com/doornock_upwey…

We know how important whistleblowing is for democracy and for trust in institutions. Alongside Andrew Wilkie MP, Helen Haines MP & Senator Lambie, I will introduce a bill to establish a Whistleblower Protection Authority to empower whistleblowers to speak out. canberratimes.com.au/story/8793785/

shakespearemerchant CharleyBrown23 Voices for Casey very strong, very organised. Launched Claire Ferres Miles - Independent for Casey last week. VoicesofWannon came 2nd last time, with a far smaller campaign than they’ve already assembled this time. Alex Dyson in with a great shot. Needs to shift 1984 votes to win.

Community Independents are needed now more than ever to be the positive balance of power in Australia - an antidote to negative divisive politics

Can you please host a corflute sign in your front garden? Name recognition is crucial in elections. Party politicians can rely on the party name, but a community independent can't. With your help I can level the playing field and we're starting early. claireferresmiles.com/corflute_sign_…

Stop what you're doing & switch on the ABC. 💧simon holmes à court 🦋 is addressing the National Press Club RIGHT NOW. You won't want to miss this! #auspol #npc youtube.com/watch?v=vOTiJk…

Watching 💧simon holmes à court 🦋 on the NPC. Not sure I’ve ever seen such an information packed speech there. Each sentence is filled with a factoid or four. It’ll be interesting to see if it cuts through the misinfo and disinfo around who is responsible for what, and how. I hope so.

What have independents achieved? All this: indiewins.com.au All of this through constructive soft-influence, without ever holding the balance of power. Better than an opposition, because independents make progress irrespective of who is in power.

An example given by 💧simon holmes à court 🦋 to illustrate how the Community Independents are disadvantaged in our electoral system; Today if you donate $1500 to Dan Tehan in Wannon, it's tax deductible. But, if you donate $1500 to Community Independent Alex Dyson, it's not tax deductible.

The more crossbenchers there are, the more positive pressure there is for positive policy. The more parliament is dominated by big parties, the more often positive policy dies in closed party room meetings or at the hands of lobbyists.
