Professor Azeem Majeed Ideally invest in a highly skilled first contact/gateway service that has clinicians capable of dealing with all problems present no matter how complex.
Not a new idea!

Great to see a consultant anaesthetist getting involved in the conversation around the video clip that came to light with how UCH are possibly working with AAs.

Great to see Luke engage and whilst the AA in the video is a friend of Luke's he does not defend it.

We need honest

As the state of healthcare really concerns the British public and will be a key issue at the General Election, here's a reminder of a great way to understand how our healthcare lost its way, and how we fix it.

Govt/NHSE have added 30000 additional roles to General Practice to reduce pressure on GPs

ARRS £1.4bn spend = 40m consults✅
Plus 10m more GP appts but fewer GPs working harder & supervising😮‍💨

Consults/year
27k GPs ~160m
30k ARRS ~40m

No funding for more GPs instead a 20% cut

Except when you were sending them to nursing homes with covid to infect everyone and die?

Lowest pension in Europe

I still won’t vote for you even if you offer a free airplane

You need to lose Bigly

This will be the next UK scandal.

The GMC created loopholes for people with a two year course, to practice dangerous medical procedures such as remote anaesthesia, without a time honoured medical degree.

The next Paula Vennells could be the CEO of the GMC and the Chair.

Rishi Sunak Dear Rishi Sunak, it was your Gov. who did not protect the care homes during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic.

A lot of elderly people died alone and before their time.

Similarly, your eat-out to help out was a deadly plan, even the CMO and CSO were unaware of this plan until it was

Did you know General Practice would need more than a 10% increase in contract value just to equliase with 2019!

That is how much General Practice has been eroded, and why there are less GPs.

What will you do about it?

Rishi is keen for us to remember his actions from the height of the pandemic so let’s remember how the Conservatives protected pensioners in 2020

I hope Sunak says he’ll bring in compulsory Christmas Carol singing so that children learn British culture like the old English carol ‘In the bleak mid-winter, PPE made Mone’

Very interesting blog by Thea Stein about conversations about productivity in the NHS.
My tuppenyworth is that activity has increased in GP but lots of encounters are with people who have only limited training (not GPs) & so patients need multiple appts. nuffieldtrust.org.uk/news-item/why-…

The same party that is after your grandma and grandpa's vote, is the same party that has destroyed their chance of seeing a GP, has kept them waiting on a trolley, and has destroyed social care.

Remind them of that!

This govt don't know the meaning of the word dignity.

Hospitals have 10% of the beds occupied by people who are ready to be discharged
There aren’t enough beds but importantly there has been too little investment in community care
Fewer GPs (7%), District Nurses (41%), care home and residential beds (15%)
With an aging population

Guys if anyone tells you that the NHS model should change to an insurance based system, share this with them. The BMJ brought experts together and they agreed that the current model is best. It’s an excellent piece of work: bmj.com/nhs-commission

Mamas A. Mamas GMC It's interesting, isn't it - not a mention of pt safety. This illustrates the depth of the groupthink affecting medical 'leadership'. It's an article of faith that replacing Drs with MAPs is *absolutely fine* - that pt safety, quality, system costs etc will be unaffected. Madness

If you’re a grandparent and you intend to vote Conservative and force your teenage grandkids into National Service, I hope they never speak to you again. Needless to say the rest of us love our grandchildren and will be voting accordingly.

The number of fully grown middle-aged adults who are like, “I can’t afford heating, my kids’ school is falling down, I can’t get a hospital appointment but I will be voting Tory to Stop The Boats,” makes it fucking ridiculous to suggest that 16-year-olds can’t be trusted to vote

Keith Burge This is an England-specific issue.
Due to partners consolidating to mega practices and selling to private equity firms, and ARRS essentially giving free non-GP staff.
It’s been a political choice by @NHSE:
