DeFuniak Springs Mayor Bob Campbell declared a Local State of Emergency at 2:45 p.m., August 13, 2021, for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Fred. Please stay informed to weather updates as this storm progresses.

The City of DeFuniak Springs will be closed on Monday, August 16, 2021 due to inclement weather anticipated from Tropical Storm Fred. Citizens with garbage pickup scheduled for Mondays will have their garbage picked up Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

DeFuniak Springs utility bill customers now have until Wednesday, August 18, 2021, 5pm, to pay their utility bill. City officials extended the deadline due to inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Fred.

In order to provide information to the public, the Walton County Emergency Management Department has opened up the Walton County Citizen Information Center. This center can provide information to the public regarding Tropical Storm Fred. The center can be reached at 850-892-8392.

The City of DeFuniak Springs and all departments will be open to the public Tuesday, August 17, 2021, for normal business. Garbage pickup services will also resume. City customers who normally have their garbage picked up on Mondays will have their garbage picked up Tuesday.

The DeFuniak Springs Fire Department will host a 9/11 memorial ceremony Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, 9am at the DeFuniak Springs Amphitheater, 1184 Circle Drive. The public is invited to participate. All first responders are encouraged to wear appropriate uniform and gear.

September 15, 2021: For the next few hours, Oaklawn Drive will be only one lane for 200 feet as City public work crews work on a sewer line. Drivers entering Oaklawn Drive from U.S. 331 will need to use extra caution turning onto the street as crews work on the line.
