I can set up one more writers' group if we get a few more people who are interested. Do you want a spot? Tell me about yourself and what you write.

If I help you, plz pay it forward! Happening already. Augusta Stories, leader of one of my successful writers' groups is putting together helpful tips for new groups. It's based on her experience, plus tips given to her by leaders from my other groups. Group Leaders: Contact her!

I've set up over 50 writing groups. When they work they're magical. They become friends/ better writers. Go for yrs. Many fail bec maybe no strong leader or no real commitment/passion, no group connection, work/obligations. I do it bec when groups work, it changes people's lives.

A tale of 2 #newbies. I made connections for both. #1 got job on show. It ended. Me: keep in contact w/ connection? "No, I didn't want to be a pest." Newbie #2 goes higher & higher. Stays connected, thank u notes, interest in THEM. People WANT to help Don't drop the ball! BUILD

#newbie wrote a very personal script for top actor. Actor: "Is there something painful you left out? Driving this character? Newbie: Yes. Too traumatic. Actor: Then THAT'S what you need to write about Actors know. Try to write your trauma. It's what will have the most meaning

Watching the trailer for F1, they call main character "elderly, an old man, aging..." Except that it's Brad Pitt --who they de-aged, looking anything BUT old. The entire point of the movie. I'm sure the writer is thrilled w/ a #1 movie, but the dialogue makes no sense w/ Pitt.

How about a super writing group? If you've been on staff, a WGA member, sold a Hallmark movie or episode/pilot (some pro exp), I'd be happy to put together a group. If you miss a writers' room, have new projects, want feedback & giving notes in an ongoing group, let me know!

When I offered to set up writers groups in the past wk, WAY more men than women stepped forward. When I started my career women were just starting to get staffed. I sure hope w/ the industry consolidation, women aren't giving up! If anyone has a take on this, I'd like to hear it!

A follower says women aren't encouraged in our society to be funny. As someone who was rewarded for being funny, that's never been my experience. Humor has always been my currency -- for getting in and out of trouble. What's your experience? What do you think? Has it changed?

Flattered that some of the writers' groups I put together are naming groups after me! "The Begel Babies" and "The Begel Boys" are pretty funny. Hearing great stories how the writers have wonderful energy/synergy helping each other with kindness. More groups coming! Esp for women!

One of my group leaders: "We have a writer from a #1 Network show, a BAFTA-winning London comic, a world expert on Chinese restaurants , an internat'l battle rapper born into royal servitude, a guy targeted by a cartel, & a surfer who ended up in Gitmo." Yep, I put them together!

#Newbie: Been trying for yrs, repped, meetings & still no job. No clue it's THEM. Newb: Others have agendas, no one wants to help, tried to manipulate me to mentor. Their pages are filled w/complaining/negativity. Make sure you present your best self IRL & in your communication!
