Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council we just need to raise £50,000! We’re asking you to support us to get back on the road. Whether it’s £5 or £5000 you can donate here!

Not only are orchestra & chorus to be made part-time at Welsh National Opera & two touring venues cut next spring, but now voluntary redundancy has been offered across the rest of the company. Without Stanford there would be no Dyson...or Vaughan Williams, Holst, Bridge, Clarke, Bliss, Howells, Hurlstone, Dunhill, Ireland, Coleridge-Taylor, Moeran, Gurney, Boughton, Wood... The list goes on and on. Twentieth-century British music without him is unthinkable.

What is wrong with wanting to be excellent at what we do? Why is that a problem for Arts Council England? The solution is to be rubbish at opera, but as long as we perform in car parks or on tablets, they’ll fund it. Will they tell The RSC that they can’t perform Shakespeare any more?

Michael Gove says that expressions of racist and misogynistic violence should be subject to ‘Christian forgiveness’. The use of Christo-fascist ideology in UK politics is being normalised.

Michael Gove’s claim that the desire to shoot a black woman because of her involvement in politics is not extreme is to normalise racist and misogynistic violence and is itself a direct threat to liberal democracy.

Two programmes from 1927. The second programme was possibly the first of its kind anywhere in the UK perhaps the world. Bournemouth Muncipal Orchestra (now @bsorchestra) under Sir Dan Godfrey leading the way for equality nearly one hundred years ago.

If everyone who wanted to deport Sheku Kanneh-Mason for having an opinion about 'Rule Britannia' showed the same energy towards attending classical concerts then Arts in the UK would be thriving and the envy of the world

In search of someone who can put a full score into piano reduction. It’s a 14 minute work for cello and orchestra and ideally I need it in the next week or 2! Please feel free to share.
Thank you 🎶
