Post the Reformation of the Church of Scotland a memo was issued to all Ministers & Stonemasons outlawing images of Christ. It appears that memo never reached St Magnus in Orkney. Here Christ in all of his glory awaits the arrival of Nicola Trail, who died in 1688. Vanitas indeed
