OK now it's clear Sadiq Khan has won a third term, a few thoughts.

First, Susan Hall was a terrible candidate. She'd have made a terrible mayor, but in addition she too right wing, too implausible and too nuts to win in London. This election was winnable, but not by her.

This was one of the councils I was looking out for. Nuneaton is a bellwether Parliamentary seat. When it went to the Tories in GE2015 around 2am I realised that the exit poll was probably right, Labour would lose, and I went to bed. So it's enormously positive that Lab have won.

Me for @labourlist on the local election results so far, noting that Reform aren't achieving the numbers of 2015 UKIP. But in 2015, the Tories weren't simultaneously losing votes to Labour. It's the fragmentation of the Con vote to *both* right and left that's so damaging.

Knocking on doors yesterday in Birmingham, one unhappy and mortified woman said she realised too late she had to apply for ID, so she couldn't vote. Might not make a huge difference to overall results but awful to see people stopped from having their voices heard, for no reason.

MORE POLLING from Labour Together : This time, Conservative party members.

We find:
- In a hypothetical leadership head to head against Sunak, both Nigel Farage and Penny Mordaunt would be backed by the membership (55-45 and 58-43 headline VI respectively)...
