Four years ago, I helped link my mother’s renal transplant program (she is the social worker) at Montefiore Health System with Mass General Transplant to discuss improving Hispanic/Latino referral patterns in Boston. One of my proudest moments as a son!

Such important work, Sophie Balzora, MD, FACG. Achieving equity cannot fall solely on underrepresented-in-medicine faculty, trainees, and students. And, if a greater role is asked of us, it should come with some protection of FTE as this benefits institutions as well as patients.
