Chris Zachwieja has just started his English Channel solo swim alongside Suva. Set off from Samphire Hoe in choppy conditions which are settling down nicely now. Fingers crossed the forecast holds and the wind stays sensible RedTopSwim
3:38 into the SW shipping lane. It’s a grey, foggy day but pretty low on wind atm which is good. Hopefully the sun will come out soon and cheer him up a bit! RedTopSwim
6:48 into the Separation Zone. Still pretty miserable and gloomy here but Chris is swimming well. We could do with some more ebb tide to help get us south. Nutrition is going well and nicely protected from chop by swimming port side RedTopSwim
7:42 and we’re in the NE shipping lane. Now the fun really begins!! Fog has cleared and it’s definitely warming up… albeit slowly. Should get some ferry and tanker shots now. He defo had a slower period but picked up again now RedTopSwim
12:12 into French Inshore Waters. Strong SE wind held up the ebb tide so we didn’t travel as far as we’d like on it. Flood tide has just taken us very close to Abbeville buoy. Edging in. Chris is fine but defo wants this over now! At least the wind has settled RedTopSwim
