Tomorrow I will be voting against the Assisted Dying Bill. You can read my reasons why here: dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/…

The SNP's Marie McNair, a former hospice nurse, will be voting against the Assisted Dying Bill: "I believe that passing this Bill will send a message that certain individuals lives are less valuable than others, and that those individuals are considered a burden on society."

What an incredible victory for Davy Russell MSP and Scottish Labour last night. The message is clear - people are tired of SNP failure, have rejected Reform’s poison and are ready for a new direction with a Scottish Labour government.

I’ve enormous respect for my colleague, Kim, and thought carefully about tweeting. BUT we must be clear: In the Bill before Parliament, the legal right to kill themselves wouldn’t have been extended to the couple mentioned in this article. Its a very slippery slope..

We have raised concerns about existing deficiencies in the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. We believe the bill in its current form lacks adequate protections for patients and professionals. Full statement: ow.ly/EOhP50W692q

The Assisted Dying Bill returns to Parliament today for its final vote at Report Stage. I’ve raised serious concerns about the lack of safeguards. It should never be easier to die than to live with support. I will be voting against the Bill.

Powerful words from Gordon Brown. MPs have personal beliefs, but also solemn duties: that’s why they must reject the assisted dying bill this week | Gordon Brown | theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

V disappointing to see MPs vote for the assisted dying bill at third reading. Shows a failure to take the risks it poses to vulnerable people seriously. A wafer thin majority for a piece of legislation that could see people wrongly assisted to kill themselves by the state though.

Chris Costello (@chriscostello_) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Absolutely correct. Assisted dying legislation isn’t compassionate nor is it progressive, it puts our most vulnerable and marginalised at risk. The fight to stop this dangerous legislation isn’t over.

'How can anyone be more offended by a rapper than by a call for genocide from an Israeli minister?' James O'Brien condemns Bob Vylan's 'death to IDF' chant, but asks why some are more outraged by 'a bloke saying stupid things at Glastonbury' than by the carnage in Gaza.
