The 3rd Reading of the #AssistedDyingBill is on Friday yet it remains hugely flawed. The PMB process has been woefully inadequate. - Only 12 of 133 amendments tabled have had a vote - Just 14% of MPs have had the chance to speak on it Not good enough for such a profound change.

It is essential that the Assisted Dying Bill is properly scrutinised and the proposed amendments thoroughly debated. If the Bill does not work properly, it will lead to distressing legal disputes when people are at their most vulnerable. The Bill needs more time.

MPs have personal beliefs, but also solemn duties: that’s why they must reject the assisted dying bill this week theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

I and Blair McDougall have written this piece in the The New Statesman to highlight the costs - in every sense - if we were to introduce #AssistedDying. There is a strong Labour case against AD. Here’s why: newstatesman.com/spotlight/heal…

An absolute pleasure to attend the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast in Westminster this morning, a powerful gathering of faith, reflection, and unity. Wonderful to share it with Erdington’s Pastor Rasaq Ibrahim (RCCG), a reminder of the strength in prayer and community.

It was fantastic to gather with church leaders and politicians, including Marsha de Cordova, this morning at the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast. It’s so important to support and pray for Parliament, so please join me in prayer for all of those that work in public life.

A real joy to represent Christians on the Left today at the gathering of Socialist Societies at UK Prime Minister. Socialist Societies represent key areas of wider society to the Labour Party and vice versa. If you’re in the Labour Party and not part of a SocSoc, join one now!
