CASEL ChildTrauma Academy You probably should use the proper heuristic image so people understand that regulate-relate-reason is the sequence of engagement required by the sequential organization and sensory processing of the brain. This version is confusing.

Join me next Tuesday for a conversation with Oprah Winfrey at SXSW EDU as we discuss the impact of childhood trauma on who we become, the decisions we make, and how healing begins with the question ‘what happened to you?’ ow.ly/yHX830rzopl

“As we come back from the last year, regulation has to be first or we won’t be able to do the learning- 2 ways to regulate: encourage kids to connect and take advantage of rhythm- like running, dancing, moving.” -Bruce D. Perry, M.D.,Ph.D. Oprah Winfrey If we don’t listen to this- we’re doing it wrong.

takeaway from #SxSwEDU keynote w @BDperry Oprah Winfrey was that we MUST take time to connect, regulate, play, heal b4 we jump into learning. afraid the focus on 'making up' for 'learning loss' will tempt us to SKIP this much needed phase of coming back together as a learning community.
