Inspiring to meet young people from Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill today, coming from Southampton to Westminster to share views on child poverty. I’m so pleased reducing child poverty is a priority for Labour, with breakfast clubs now opening & the PM forming a task force to tackle the issue.

The clock is ticking ⏰ Child poverty is set to increase under a Labour government for the first time in history. As the most cost-effective way to reduce child poverty, we must #ScrapTheCap. Great to speak with child poverty charities & organisations in Parliament yesterday.

I was glad to attend an event by The Children’s Society for the launch of their report ‘A chance at childhood’ and hear from young people about their experiences. Around 4.3 million children live in poverty in the UK. It is crucial that we get these children access to support

Today, Chicken Cottage opened their first store where all staff are briefed to help tackle child exploitation. The new Walthamstow branch is a terrific milestone in our national partnership to create safer spaces for young people🧡

Here's a feel-good story this weekend 👇 Three brothers, James, Andrew and Will, have driven their miniature bus from Land's End to John O’Groats, raising money for The Children's Society. Their top speed is just 12 miles per hour! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

We’re buzzing from an incredible day at the #LondonMarathon. 85 superstars ran the iconic 26.2 mile course in support of The Children’s Society – an amazing achievement! Thank you so much for all the hard work and dedication to the hope and happiness of young people 🧡💫

We're encouraged by the mentions of the national wellbeing measurement in the House of Lords yesterday. The #ChildrensWellbeingAndSchoolsBill must enable more informed & effective methods to improve young people’s wellbeing. Watch our Chair, Bishop Libby Lane 👇

Students from Oasis Academies presented our joint report, A Chance at Childhood, to over 70 MPs in Parliament. Reflecting on the experience, students wrote: "We weren’t just there to share our stories; we were there to demand change." Read more: ow.ly/ro5j50VNwV8

The new #VictimsAndCourtsBill is a positive step towards protecting victims as they navigate the criminal justice system. We urge Gov to go further: fully implement the IICSA recommendations and commit to greater investment in early intervention to prevent child exploitation.
