"For the first time ever, [Child Law Project has] seen cases of young children for whom no foster carer is available; very young children, as young as four years, being placed in residential care; and a ‘waiting list’ for admission to special care. irishexaminer.com/news/arid-4150…

Great to be at launch of Child Law Project report, Falling Through the Cracks. Vitally important piece of work with exceptionally insightful observations about issues within child care proceedings and recommendations about how to make improvements in the future.

Reading material for the train journey home. Congratulations to all at Child Law Project on the launch of this report. Let's hope the goodwill and commitment to children so evident in the room tonight translates into badly-needed concrere actions.

An excellent launch which strengthens the calls from the IASW and others for clear, cross departmental, critical change. A little deflated given that this important project which has allowed children and families’ stories to be shared safely and respectfully to bring 1/3

As showcased yesterday by Child Law Project, this issue continues to grow as placements in foster become fewer and farther between. More & younger children are entering residential care where education becomes a harder task to accomplish due to instability & lack of resources

Thanks. One of the bright sparks featured in our #FallingThroughTheCracks report is the work of Barnardos Ireland running a pilot national project to support parents whose children are in care (funded by Tusla - Child and Family Agency)

"The [Child Law Project] authors say that what they saw amounts to a failure by the State to meet its constitutional and human rights obligations toward children. They warn the State is exposing itself to legal challenges as a consequence." irishtimes.com/opinion/editor…
