We combined micro-CT imaging with ionic #silver staining to characterize 3D #melanin patterns in whole zebrafish larvae, consistently reproducing pigment patterns seen by light microscopy and enabling quantitative analyses of melanin content. (2/x)

We could also directly compare wild-type larvae and two representative pigmentation mutant zebrafish, golden and nacre, using this method, both qualitatively and quantitatively. (3/x)
