It started as a whimsical idea by a pair of #CityMission supporters. It ended with the Mission’s carpark filled with motorcyclists on Sunday bringing food, gifts and money and lots of #Christmas goodwill. To support the #mission you can donate here bit.ly/35sjP9z

If you are in the position to donate to the CHCH City Mission this Christmas, your kindness will make Christmas better for struggling Cantabrians. Christmas is the busiest time of the year for the City Mission and we are seeing over 200 people a day. bit.ly/35sjP9z

Hundreds of local children face going to new schools this year looking like they don’t belong or can’t afford to belong. They are from families who can’t give them proper uniforms, shoes and stationery. We need your help to help them. bit.ly/2SksJlZ

Yesterday we had the honour of being able to treat some of our men down to a day of cricket. The guys are big cricket fans however had never had a chance to attend a game before and they absolutely loved the chance to be a part of the crowd and to support their team…very loudly!

Some of the City Mission men’s day programme clients got a little salty this week – and they loved it! Two longboarding clubs - North Wai and New Brighton – came together to run a free surfing lesson for our men and the afternoon was wrapped up with a shared barbecue.

It’s going to be another big week for our new delivery Foodbank service. Last week we made 300% more deliveries than usual. Everyone here is giving all they can to support Christchurch under this lockdown. A big thanks to all those who are supporting us. Kia Kaha.

Our front carpark has become the main meeting room at the City Mission. It ticks all the social distancing boxes but you have to shout when trucks go past and get out of the way when our vans head out with our food deliveries.

We were battling on to get huge amounts of food out to the community but we needed help. The men in our emergency accommodation came to the rescue. These guys are putting in the hard yards stacking and sorting food. Men who need the most help, are helping others.
