As we learned from Loma Prieta, winery tanks and barrel stacks do not like earthquakes. Fingers crossed for all.

Quick visit to Sonoma town to see about daughter's house there shows no damage. Wineries along the road from Sears Point all open.

Barrel rooms/tanks took big hits in past quakes. That seems so in Napa et al today. But, sad sight at Trefethen. Historic winery badly hurt.

Wine barrels can kill. The last two quakes hit empty wineries. We would be mourning people, not oak. Ask the Wine Institute to act now.
